North Georgia College & State University ROTC Grant

Purpose

To encourage Georgia residents to attend North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU) and participate in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) by providing grant assistance toward the cost of education.

Eligibility

  1. Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at North Georgia College & State University as a degree seeking student;
  2. Fully participate in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at North Georgia College & State University;
  3. Be a legal resident of Georgia;
  4. Be a U.S. citizen or national of the U.S. or have evidence from INS of eligible permanent resident alien status;
  5. Be in compliance with Selective Service registration requirements;
  6. Be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990;
  7. Not be in default or owe a refund on a student financial aid program;
  8. Maintain satisfactory academic progress, as defined by the college.

Value

Recipients receive an award up to $1,500 per academic year, $750 for fall and $750 for spring, depending on available funding. Students who meet all of the above eligibility requirements and who sign a contract to accept a commission as an officer, may receive an award of up to $3,000 per academic year, $1,500 for fall semester and $1,500 for spring semester. This component is referred to as the North Georgia College & State University ROTC Grant for Future Officers. A student cannot receive payment for both components for the same school term.

Application Procedure

Applicants complete the North Georgia College & State University ROTC Grant application form and submit it to the college's Financial Aid Office for certification. The application deadline date is set by the college. Proceed to the NGCSU application page and download an application.

Other Information

The college will determine if the student is fully participating in the ROTC program (i.e., be in uniform, attend drills, attend ROTC classes, good conduct, etc.) each school term before authorizing payment of this grant.
