Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

Purpose

To assist eligible students who completed a rigorous secondary education program of study with the cost of education.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the ACG, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • A Pell Grant recipient
  • Enrolled full-time in a degree program
  • Entering freshmen who have completed a "rigorous secondary school program," as designated by the state in which the student resided when completing the program
  • Sophomores who have completed a "rigorous secondary school program," and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA during freshman year

Value

Up to $750.00 for the first year of undergraduate study and up to $1300.00 for the second year of undergraduate study to eligible full time students.

Application Procedure

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Some colleges may also require applicants to complete the college's financial aid application. Each participating college sets their application deadline date.

Other Information

Potentially eligible students will be contacted by the U.S. Department of Education. Students will be directed to a Web site to determine if they have completed a "rigorous secondary school program" to possibly qualify.

The amount of ACG, in combination with Federal Pell Grant and other financial aid cannot exceed demonstrated financial need.
